Becoming Aware

Sometimes it's difficult to become aware, especially with all of the moden distractions around. There is a never-ending need to "go, go, go" and never rest, take stock, and breathe.

Find a space that is special to you, or create one for yourself. Light candles, play music, and set up your space to be peaceful.

(and to those that say "...but I don't have time or room to make this happen...", I say are you trying to make it work or are you doing it to make it happen?)

All you do is breathe. Use the tempo of your clock, your heartbeat, or simply counting in your head to breathe. Don't overbreate (to the point of keeping in the breath just to get the most breath possible), simply slowly let in and let out your breath. Any thoughts that might come into your awareness let be. The more you fight your thoughts the stronger they stick. All you have to do is accept the thought that comes by, write it down, or let the thought be in awareness, and return to breath.

I've been meditating everyday for about 2 years now, and it takes a while to build up to full awareness for a long period of time. Why? Life happens. Distractions are everywhere.

Don't see becoming aware as a challenge; it's a gift. A gift we can access if we are open to the opportunity of being in peace-awareness with the present moment.
